In the spirit of helping our students and families islandwide during this coronavirus pandemic, volunteers from GDOE assist in distributing healthy meals to all school aged children attending both public and private schools.
Kudos to our very own FES team for their presence at Astumbo Elementary School, one of the 12 schools designated to distribute these much needed meals. GO Guihans!

A special "Thank You" to our wonderful and hardworking staff. They are truly the backbone of our daily operations whether in the office, cafeteria, and classroom as well as the field supervising students during recess and before/after school activities. A well deserved day indeed that included a special luncheon and treats(: Biba Staff!
2020 Silebrasion CHamoru Opening Ceremony
TEMA: Fanmakmata, Fanmanhasso, Fanohge (Be Enlightened, Be Informed, Rise)
A special "Dangkalo Na Si Yu'os Ma'ase" to our awesome CHamoru teachers for coordinating this annual event. Also, to our special guests: Mayor Melissa Savares, music performers Sinot Richard Quitugua and Sinorita Sandra Torres, and cultural dance groups Guma' Mahiga and Ininan i Saina-ta for their inspiring performances.

"Community Chest-Buy Nothing...Give Freely"
A special shout to Kindergarten Team for sponsoring this awesome event held at the Astumbo Community Center. Free giveaways included clothes, bags, shoes, toys, and a variety of household items. It's all about giving back to the community and to those in need(:

National School Counseling Week
Special appreciation goes out to our very own school counselors, Mrs. Porter and Mr. Santos, for their hard work and guidance in support of the students and teachers. Enjoy!
A special ceremony for participating students islandwide was held at the Isla Center for the Arts located at UOG. Works of art were on display for the public to view and appreciate.
Congratulations to our 3rd grade students Taylor Muna, Quimm Flores, and Benjamin Payumo for receiving achievement awards in their division. Creativity at its finest!
2020 FES Spelling Bee
Great job to all our students who participated in this year's competition. Also, kudos to our 2020 Spelling Bee committee (Instruction Team- Mrs. Malinao, Mrs. Canare) for organizing this event, pronouncer (Mrs. Morrison), and judges (Mrs. Duenas, Mrs. Porter, Ms. V. Perez).
Congratulations to our overall winner (Jerich Solomon, 5th grade) and runner up (Anela Payumo, 5th grade) as it took 8 rounds to complete the challenge.
The winning word was "verandas."
Kudos to our K-5 grade levels for hosting this special event. Parents and students joined in on the fun learning more about the world of numbers. Learning at its finest!

Kudos to the WAVE Club for their time and efforts in beautifying our campus. They did an awesome job re-landscaping the area in front of the main office and collecting trash items around the school site. Clean is always GOOD!(:
Also, a shout out to our FES Faculty/Staff Volleyball team on their first game in the GDOE Volleyball Intramurals. They played their hearts out and had fun doing so! GO GUIHANS!
A special "Thank You" to our PBIS Cadre for launching their first assembly of the year for all students. Behavioral expectations, rewards system, and discipline data were shared in the spirit of creating a positive school climate for all.
Tourism Education Council's Youth Expo
Kudos to our WAVE Club advisors, Mrs. Canare and Mr. Nichols, and students for their participation at the tourism expo held at PIC. Over 500 WAVE Club students from different schools attended this annual event.
Student members learned the importance of Guam's tourism industry and focused on this year's theme: “You’re bigger than your village.” Also, they were encouraged to do something bigger than themselves by promoting Guam in positive ways.
A special "Thank You" to Mr. Jon Fernandez, GDOE Superintendent of Education, for sharing time with our students as well.
Texas Computer Education Association LEGO Arena
Kudos to our FES LEGO Robotics Club for their great showing at the TCEA LEGO Arena Competition held at Dusit Thani Guam Resort. This special event was held in partnership between the TCEA and Guam DOE.
Out of 33 schools represented by middle and elementary schools islandwide, FES fielded two teams in the intermediate division, the Mighty Guihans and the Flying Guihans. Overall, one of the teams finished 11th place(:

Hard work, time, dedication, and leadership from the team coach, club advisors and students including support from parents/guardians and the FES faculty/staff/administration made this first time experience memorable and successful. GO Guihans!!!
Kudos to Nurse Sherry and her committee (Mrs. Porter, Mr. Santos, and Mr. Perez) for coordinating this successful event during PTC day. Also, a "shout out" to our awesome support staff/team who assisted with the sign up tables as well as setup of the venue and refreshments for our participants.
A special "Thank You" to our Parents/Guardians who took time to speak to a number of participating agencies, organizations, and businesses about their key services. Also, raffle prizes were given throughout the event which was made possible by the generous donations of several local businesses.
Held annually, this event no doubt helps brings out awareness to our school community. Go Guihans!

The SPIRIT of the SEASON
Kudos to Ms. Perez and the FES Student Council for their involvement with Salvation Army's Annual Bell Ringer and Red Kettle Campaigns at Micronesia Mall.
The campaigns focus on the kind monetary donations (whether a penny, quarter, or dollar) from residents shopping at major stores or malls on the island. The proceeds help provide family services, food, clothing, shelter, and other assistance to those in great need.
The signature "bell ringing" and red kettle for donations makes both campaigns very popular during the holiday season.
2019 Christmas Program
Kudos to our Headstart through 5th grade students for their excellent and creative performances. Also, a special "shout out" to our hard working teachers who coordinated their respective grade level student performances.
A heartfelt "Thank You" to Mrs. Maria Gutierrez, Vice-Chairperson for the Guam Education Board, as well for her kind words of encouragement to our school community and presence.
The spirit of the holiday season was certainly on display and felt by all!

TRAVELING OCEAN FAIR!
A special "Thank You" to Mrs. Melanie Blas, Marine Biology teacher, and her students from Simon Sanchez High School for taking time out to share their knowledge about the ocean to our 4th grade students. The ocean is an important natural resource we all need to protect along with its living creatures, organisms and habitat. It was a fun day for learning through song, reading, and hands on activities.

Kudos to the school community for donating much needed canned goods for our Giving Tuesday event hosted by our Student Council on December 3, 2019.
A total of 977 canned goods were collected.
Special thanks to the KUAM Care Force for their support as well through the
Kids for Kindness Challenge.

CUPCAKES with COPS EVENT
A special "Thank You" to Guam Police Department Chief Stephen Ignacio and his officers for spending their time with our Kindergarten students. The students enjoyed their company filled with special treats and great conversation. Our community would not be safe without the presence of law enforcement officers islandwide. Biba police!!!
Also, kudos to our Kindergarten teachers for coordinating this successful event and
parents, Mrs. Flores and Ms. Pangelinan, who donated the creative and delicious cupcakes.

A special "Thank You" to Fire Lt. Santos and crew from the Astumbo Fire Station for sharing their knowledge with our Pre K thru 2nd grade students. Congratulations to Mrs. Porter and Ms. Anderson for recently receiving their facilitator certification for Rainbows for All Children Program. This program is dedicated to being the source of support and awareness for all youth as they navigate grief and heal from loss, whether from death, divorce, deployment, or other trauma.
Also, congratulations to Ms. Flores and Mr. Nichols for completing the STEM training focusing on robotics. Robotics is a branch of technology that deals with the making, programming, and designing of robots.
